This is a project I've been working on in my spare time with a friend and some other fine folks. Here's the description:

Imagine if every time you bought a light bulb, a portion of the sale went to provide electricity to someone else that needed it but didn't have access to it. What if a percentage of the purchase of a bar of soap went to help someone else get access to more hygienic living conditions? Picture a supermarket full of items you could buy that benefited others in need.

There are a handful of companies like Ethos Water, Newman's Own, Endangered Species Chocolate and the Body Shop who practice socially responsible business models we call "contextual contributions," and while the number of these types of businesses are growing in the consumer packaged goods industry, we feel there can and should be more of them in all areas of commerce.

Following the business models of companies like these, the Mosio Project is a mobile messaging service contributing a portion of its sales towards engineering and technology projects benefiting people in need on the local, national and global levels. Our vision is to create a fun and useful mobile service that helps the greater good.

Launching in April 2007, Mosio has a contribution goal of $2 million (USD) by the year 2010, to technology and engineering projects that help people get clean water, develop renewable energies and create sustainable living conditions.

To be notified when the Mosio Project launches, please enter your name and email below. We have a growing list of organizations and projects, but if you know of one that you think could use our help, please let us know. Thanks for your time and we look forward to hearing from you again.

Sincerely,

The Mosio Project
Technology for good.
